Catholic Schools Day

On Wednesday was Catholic Schools day. We had a big mass at the Trafalgar Centre with St Peter Chanel, St Joseph and Garin Collage. When we got there we were split into four main whanau groups. We finished off our prayer flags and hung them on string across the hall. Then there was the mass where the Saint Paul's band played "Sing Your Praises". At the end of the mass St Joseph and Garin showed some of their Stage Challenge performances. By then it was 2:00 and time to leave back to school on the Bus.

National Standards Petition

Why are educational experts, principals, teachers, and many parents so worried about National Standards?
Because we care about children's learning, we respectfully request that National Standards be trialled in our schools before being introduced nationally.
Some of the concerns raised are:
-They are untried and untested
-Will label children as young as 5 as failures
-Could result in misleading and damaging school league tables
-Are not the solution to under-achievement
Come to the Saint Paul's School office to show your support and sign the National Standards Petition. Help your children get a better education.

This week we have had Mrs Trolle' in our class to help us with our tapa cloths. We got to create our own designs and draw them onto A2 paper before going over it with vivid and painting it with Indian ink. Then we draped wet teabags over one side to give it a better effect. On the other side of the tapa, we did a contemporary side which included lots of bright colours.

Keep an eye on it as you drive past over the next few days as more tiles get added. When its finished and you drive by at night you will see it lit up with lights.
